Carl Pickens

One Earth Matters
Ellerslie award winning Landscape Architect,
Carl Pickens, is an extremely knowledgeable speaker. His captivating talk on designing and building gardens with a low environmental impact enthralled listeners in the North Island. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Carl speak.

Peter Taylor

Peter is a marketing consultant with Claude & Associates in Christchurch.  Peter is also Chair of the South Island's 22,000-member credit union NZCU South and Chair of the Southern Region of the Sustainable Business Network.  Previous work includes finance and telecommunications sector management and marketing roles.  Peter was the founding manager of Christchurch community venture loan fund Just Dollars Trust.  Peter is currently a People's Choice candidate for councillor for the Hagley-Ferrymead ward of the Christchurch City Council.

Eugenie Sage

Eugenie Sage was a regional councillor with Environment Canterbury until the elected councillors were removed earlier this year and replaced with state-appointed commissioners. Eugenie was formerly South Island field co-ordinator for the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society, where she was active in RMA advocacy and leading successful conservation campaigns. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland and a Diploma in Journalism from the University of Canterbury.

John Wilson - Sunshine Solar

John is an experienced speaker on developments in solar water heating industry. 

From flat plate to evacuated tube technology to hot water heat pumps - John will guide you through the various options and applications.

John has a Technology degree from Massey University and is very capable in discussing the various options and applications in technical non-bias way.

Brian has a background in town planning and regional level resource management planning and environmental communication.

Rhys Taylor

Rhys Taylor coordinates the Sustainable Living Education Trust, providing practical information on lifestyle choices and changes that reduce our impact on the planet ( www.sustainableliving.org.nz ) Alongside community education, he also advises business and local government on strategic sustainability, using the internationally-respected Natural Step Framework. Rhys has a Masters Degree in Resource Management from Lincoln university and a BA from Oxford University.

Adam Reid and Carolyn Brown

Adam Reid and Carolyn Brown are energy advisors at the Home Energy Advice Centre, and are passionate about helping people reduce their energy costs whilst staying warm during winter (and cool in summer).

The Home Energy Advice Centre (HEAC) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial advice service managed by the Energy Efficiency Community Network (EECN) and delivered in the Upper and middle South Island by Community Energy Action.

“Our mission is to provide timely, appropriate, accurate and impartial energy efficiency advice offering practical solutions to help our customers reduce their energy bills and improve well-being”
